But when someone comes at you with criticism, blame, aggression or bullying, you may still get activated on an instinctual level. Next thing you know, you find yourself in reaction, retaliation or withdrawal -- which of course, only makes the situation worse.
This is true of virtually all of us: when our instinctual brain perceives danger, a whole different set of survival instincts kick in.
